The Skills Development Facility/Fund (SDF) supports the employer-led short-term training and recognition of prior learning as well as increased access to internships for Technical and Vocational (TVET) students. The economic benefit of the training by the SDF has proved to be substantial in terms of wage growth and labour productivity. The training, which is co-financed by the private sector through a matching grant contribution, is aimed at stimulating partnerships between firms, industry associations and training institutions. It is also aimed at increasing the mobility of the labour force by strengthening of the mechanisms for recognition of skills acquired through formal and informal skills training. The National Skills Fair shall be held at UMA Multipurpose Hall in Lugogo starting May 7-9 2019.
